Paul Edwards James

Paul Edwards James, 83, of New Columbia, passed away July 10, 2012, in Lewisburg.

Paul was born April 27, 1929, in Northumberland, a son of the late Bartholomew and Ursula (Bitler) James. He was married to the former Della Elizabeth Temple on Sept. 15 1956, and was married for 57 years.

He graduated from Danville Area High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Supply Sergeant during the Korean conflict.

He graduated from LaSalle University of Philadelphia, earning his Bachelor's of Science degree in 1956. Mr. James was employed in industrial management as Production Planner, Scheduler, Productions Inventory Coordinator and Line Supervisor for a total of 16 years. His last 20 years of employment was as an Employer Relation Representative with PA Labor and Industry, out of its PA Job Service office in Williamsport, Pa., from which he retired in 1992.

Mr. James was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewisburg. He had attended the Christ Wesleyan Church of Milton for the past several years.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bingaman of York Springs; two sons, Paul Edwards James of White Deer, and Harold (Harry) William James and his wife Angi of Hampstead, N.C.; one with a total of six grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Kohl of Northumberland. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mercy Furman, Ursula Lehman and Mary Elizabeth C. Gratz Reichard; three brothers, Daniel James, Franklin Bartholomew James and William Bitler James.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton, July 20, at 5 p.m. with Pastor Ken Paul Hamus officiating.

There will be no viewing. Contributions in Paul's memory be made to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Lewisburg.
