Faculty and staff members in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Natural Resources Management served as judges for several competitions during the 2012 State FFA Activities Week, held June 12 to 14 at Penn State University.
FFA Activities Week gathers more than 1,400 high school students from throughout the state for three days of competitions and agriculture-related activities.
Horticulture faculty members Carl J. Bower Jr. and Dennis P. Skinner judged the Public Speaking-Conservation category, while Horticulture Lab Assistant Justin Shelinski judged Floriculture entries. Bower also served as co-chair of the 2012 planning committee for the Nursery and Landscape state competitions.
"FFA is such a great grassroots organization that emphasizes both technical and 'soft' skills," said Mary A. Sullivan, dean of natural resources management.
