A 42-year-old city man has been charged with cruelty to animals for killing a 7-week-old kitten in his home by stomping on its head, city police said.
Kenneth L. Powers, of 2111 W. Third St., claimed he didn't mean to hurt the kitten, he "just wanted to scare it," police said.
The incident occurred about 8:10 p.m. June 6, police said. Powers buried the kitten, whose name was "Buddy," in his backyard, police said. Following his arraignment Tuesday before District Judge James Carn, he was released on bail.
