Thomas A. Wines

Thomas A. Wines, 57, of Muncy, died Wednesday night at Susquehanna Healthcare Center, Muncy.

Born in Wichita, Kan., he is the son of Barbara J. Nelson Wines, McSherrystown, Pa., and the late Thomas E. Wines. He was raised in Upper Darby and resided in the Muncy area for the last 22 years.

Tom served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant, entering into the military police unit and later the drug enforcement division of the criminal investigation unit. He also served on a special detail for Secretary of State Casper Weinburger in 1987.

Tom has been involved in helping mankind throughout his life. He has been employed in nursing and respiratory care at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Susquehanna Healthcare System and, most recently, Homecare Products, Lewisburg. He attended both the University of Pennsylvania School of Respiratory Care and received his associate degree in nursing from Delaware County Community College. Tom also obtained his bachelor's degree in healthcare administration.

He was a member of Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #945, the National Rifle Association, American Association of Respiratory Care, the AARP and the Keystone Sportsman Association. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a loving son, father, brother and companion who was the apple of his father's eye. Tom was Tammy's "dream come true" and the love of her life.

He is also survived by his much beloved companion, Tammy Austin; a son, Chad "Bud", Muncy; a daughter, Alissa "Kiddo", Hughesville; a sister, Marti and husband Miles Potter, Georgetown, Del., and a nephew, Travis Potter.

Per Tom's request as a caregiver, his organs were donated to Gift of Life and his body was cremated.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at the family residence today (Sunday) from 2 until 3:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior's Project or the donor's favorite charity.
