Learn 'CPR Anytime'
PENNSDALE The LifeCenter in the Lycoming Mall will hold the American Heart Association's CPR Anytime program at 1:30 and 6 p.m. today.
Becky Lewis, a registered nurse and the chronic disease nurse consultant with the state Department of Health, will facilitate the program, which offers hands-on learning and awareness of performing CPR. Participants will receive a free training kit that includes a mini Annie doll, booklet and DVD.

Annual ATV Expo planned
HUGHESVILLE - The seventh annual ATV Expo will be held at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds today. Children and adults can learn how to prevent ATV accidents from happening.
Teaching stations will focus on:
Head trauma - what happens when you do not wear a helmet;
Safe places to ride ATVs;
How to properly ride or drive an ATV. Certified ATV instructors will be on hand to demonstrate; and
Proper use and sizing of equipment.
Children who complete the four teaching stations will be eligible for prizes.
The expo is sponsored in part by the Lycoming County Health Improvement Coalition.
Learn how to keep your baby happy
Learn how to soothe your baby and help him or her sleep longer by attending the "Happiest Baby on the Block" class from 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 19 in the Maple Room of Susquehanna Tower at Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Free Alzheimer's CARE workshops scheduled
LEWISBURG - From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and July 26 and Aug. 15 and 22, free Alzheimer's CARE workshops will be held at Home Instead Senior Care, 130 Buffalo Road, in the former creamery building.
The Alzheimer's or Other Dementias CARE (Changing Aging through Research and Education) Training Program, developed by top experts in North America and Home Instead Senior Care, offers a personal approach to help families care for seniors with Alzheimer's disease at home.
During each workshop, caregivers will learn how to manage difficult behaviors; encourage engagement; and care for themselves while caring for their loved ones.

SUN Home Health & Hospice will hold a butterfly releases at 2 p.m. Sunday in Brandon Park to benefit its hospice program.
Families and friends can sponsor butterflies in honor or memory of a loved one. The donation for each honor or memorial butterfly is $25.

Learn about changes during pregnancy
WELLSBORO - Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital will hold the following Expectant Parents classes from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the board room.
July 24 - "Labor & Delivery," which includes a tour of the OB unit.
The classes are address common questions and concerns of expectant parents. Courses are not sequential, and participants attend at any time during the cycle. Registration is not necessary. Walk-ins welcomed.

Taste a rainbow of healthy snacks
PENNSDALE - A free Kids in the Kitchen: Taste a Rainbow of Healthy Snacks program will be held July 24 at The LifeCenter in the Lycoming Mall.
Sessions will begin at 11 a.m. and 1 and 2:30 p.m. and are limited to 15 children per session.
Children ages 4 to 12 and their parents or guardians will taste healthy snacks they'll learn to make. During each session, registered dietitian Kathryn McKernan will teach participants how to select healthy foods to create snacks that are quick and delicious. Information on choosing proper portions of food also will be provided through interactive instruction.

Free blood sugar screenings offered
Community Health Education at Evangelical Community Hospital will hold free blood sugar screenings at the following locations:
July 25 - 4-6 p.m. at Weis Markets, West Branch Highway, Lewisburg
July 26 - 4-6 p.m. at Weis Markets, North Fourth Street, Sunbury
Aug. 14 - 8-10 a.m. at the Susquehanna Valley Mall Community Zone, Selinsgrove. Blood pressure screening also will be available.
A pre-diabetes education class will be held 1-3 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Community Health Education Center on Route 15 in Lewisburg. During the free class, pre-diabetes is defined with information on how to slow or reverse the progress of the disease. Learn first aid, CPR
WELLSBORO - A two-day First Aid and CPR course will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. July 25 and 26 in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital's conference room.
Nellie Chambers, a qualified American Heart Association instructor, will teach the course. It will address adult, child, and infant first aid and CPR, offering group interaction, feedback and the highest quality of educational materials, as well as skills practice in first aid and CPR.
A course completion certification card will be awarded. A fee applies and registration is required.

The Susquehanna Community Health and Dental Center will host a community health day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 469 and 471 Hepburn St.

T-Dap and child seat safety clinics - Tetanus, diptheria and pertussis vaccines are free for fathers and all family household members 18 years and older of newborns delivered at Evangelical Community Hospital.
