Alvina C. "Vi" Cheslock, 92, of Hanover Street, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, surrounded by her family at SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
She was born in Laquin on Dec. 3, 1919, a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Befri) Taddeo formerly of Williamsport. On Sept. 17, 1938, she married the Henry J. Cheslock of West Hazleton who preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1967.
Alvina was a graduate of Williamsport High School and lived there until 1950. She then moved to Northumberland where she was a very active member of the former St. Thomas More Catholic Church and more recently St. Monica Catholic Church, Sunbury.

She was a member of the Mary Derr Rockefeller Auxiliary and received the dedicated service Houtz award for her service to Sunbury Community Hospital.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed going to Broadway plays and walking with her friend Elsie. She enjoyed playing cards and was a wonderful cook and baker. She was known for her famous apple pies and pierogies. She was an avid Phillies and Notre Dame fan. Alvina cherished spending time with her grandchildren and now her great-grandchildren. She was lovingly known as "Nana" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one was special and unique to her.
Alvina is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Harry Wynn, Cheryl and George Pisarz, both of Northumberland, Francella and Henry Shade of Timonium, Md., and Dianne and Tony Eidson of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Todd Wenrich and wife Lori of Sunbury, Michelle Kipple and husband David of Sunbury, Valerie Bucher and husband Ryan of Northumberland, Krista Bowers of Sunbury, Brian Pisarz of Milton, Curtis Andrews Jr. of Venice, Calif., James Eidson and wife Carolina of Orange Park, Fla.; and her great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Brittany Myers, Nathan and Chloe Kipple, Grace, Claudia and Aaron Bucher, Collin, Madeleine and Gwendolyn Bowers, Michelle and Gina Eidson; her sisters, Louise Casteel of Tucson, Peggy Waltz and her fiance Bob Breon of Williamsport; her brother, Frank Taddeo of Williamsport; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Taddeo.
Friends and family may visit Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland. A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Monica's Catholic Church, 109 Market St., Sunbury, with Father Don Cramer officiating.
Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
