Relay team to hold auction

The Cancer Crushing Pants Relay For Life team will hold its second bachelor and bachelorette auction fundraiser July 26 at the Old Corner Hotel, 328 Court St.

A meet and greet with the bachelors and bachelorettes will begin at 7 p.m. with music from Ron Fleeger and Derick Hunter.

The auction will start at 8:30 p.m. Each winning bidder also will receive a prize donated by a local businesses.

There will be door prizes, 50-50 drawing, DJ, and "celebrity" bachelor - Vijay from V 97.7-FM.

The event is free and open to the public. The fundraiser is being held in memory of Gene Baier and will benefit the Relay For Life of Williamsport and the American Cancer Society.

PACFI to hold tennis tournament

MIFFLINBURG - The Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis Inc. (PACFI) Burke P. Derr and Karl A. Servinsky Memorial Tennis Tournament mixed doubles competition will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Maple Street courts in Mifflinburg. Final rounds will be played at noon Sunday.

Divine Providence to hold festival

The Divine Providence Hospital Auxiliary will hold a backyard festival and yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the hospital auditorium and on the grounds behind the hospital.

The event will feature crafts, vendors, food, silent and Chinese auction, games, baked goods and health booth including massage.

The DPH auxiliary has contributed close to $3 million in support of efforts to improve Susquehanna Health's Divine Providence Hospital campus. Their most recent contribution, of $340,000 was to renovate the same day surgery unit.

The Auxiliary also has pledged $350,000 to Susquehanna Health's Cancer Center located on the DPH campus.

The DPH Auxiliary formed in 1954. At that time, they held their first "Lawn Fete" in the front parking lot of the hospital.

Society to sponsor ballroom dance

The Susquehanna Ballroom Dance Society will sponsor a ballroom dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Divine Providence auditorium.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and pre-recorded music will be provided for all ballroom dancers of all levels.

There is a fee for the event, which will include snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.

The event is BYOB and is a non-smoking event. Attire for the summer events is semi-casual; no jacket and tie for men, no short shorts.

Each month, 50 percent of the proceeds are given to the Hospital Auxiliary Cancer Center.

Stroke support group to hold picnic

The Stroke Survivors Support Group will hold its annual picnic at noon July 31 at Susquehanna State Park.

The group will provide some food items; attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass.
