Gloria Patricia Cole, 60, of 224 S. Jones St., Lock Haven, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Gatehouse Hospice in Williamsport.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1951, in Newark, N.J., the daughter of the late Mary Dixon and Harold Fleming.
On Oct. 25, 2003, in Williamsport, she married Rev. Larry D. Cole, who survives in Lock Haven.
Gloria was a member of the Flemington United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer for many organizations including American Red Cross in Williamsport as a HIV/AIDs educator, the AIDs Resource Center, and the Clinton County Women's Center, where she was a past recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award. In addition, Gloria loved gardening and music and dedicated much of her life to children, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Vincent (Ishiyee) and Peter Banks of N.J.; three daughters, Azuredee Banks and Leonda (James) Brown, both of N.C., and Yolanda Ligon of N.J.; a stepson, Bradley D. (Nicole) Cole of Limestoneville; a daughter-in-law, Dorice Banks of Texas; seven siblings, Winkie (Melvin) George of N.J., Kevin Dixon of Ala., Michelle (Kevin Batts), Yvette Reed, Bernadette (James) Newman, Wendy (Derick) Moses, all of N.J., and Sean (Kristy) Dixon of Md.; 19 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Pierre Banks and a brother, Harold Fleming Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Flemington United Methodist Church, 225 High St., Flemington, with Rev. Fred Fields officiating. Family and friends will be welcomed next door to the church at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., from 1 p.m until the time of the service.
