Williamsport Sun-Gazette

TOWANDA - A Perkasie man died Wednesday afternoon after the car he was driving was hit by a tractor trailer in Canton Township.

According to state police here, Colby M. Swartley, 24, of Perkasie, was traveling south on Route 14 near Newell Road when the 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse he was driving went off the west side of the roadway and spun back across the northbound lane.

Swartley's car hit the guard rail on the east side and was hit by a 2004 Freightliner traveling north.

The truck's driver David E. Boyer 34, of Millmont, was not injured, but Swartley suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at Troy Community Hospital, where he was taken by Western Alliance Ambulance following the crash.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and Swartley's airbags deployed.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
