Joanne previously volunteered and served as a board member for the Jessica Ann Hicks Foundation for childhood cancer in Hughesville. She was also a former volunteer for the Susquehanna Health System at the Muncy Valley Hospital; and she and her husband often volunteered at St. Anthony's Center in Williamsport.

The greatest joys of her life were her family, her church family and her friends.
