Dorothy V. (Volkman) Russell, 74 of Williamsport passed away, Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born March 1, 1938, in Williamsport she was the daughter of the late Edward and Erna (Lenz) Volkman.
Dorothy was married to the late William M. Russell, until his death in 1976.

Dorothy was a 1956 graduate of Williamsport high School. At age 20 she moved to Los Angeles, Calif. where she studied acting, journalism and appeared in several plays. She enjoyed artwork, drawing, reading and crossword puzzles. She was a Lutheran.
She worked as a caseworker for the Lycoming County Assistance Office, and after 20 years of service she retired in 2004. After her retirement she worked for LIHEAP as a caseworker.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Randee and LeRoy Halstead of Williamsport; two grandsons, Lindsey and Jeremy Halstead, along with one brother, Edward Volkman Jr. of Linden.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ann Krause, and a niece Linda Hendrick.
The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012, at the Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport. There will be a public viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Green Lawn Memorial Park.
