Newell I. Thompson Jr., 83, of 1438 Catherine St., Williamsport, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012, at his residence. He was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Williamsport, a son of Newell I. and Suzanne Artley Thompson Sr.
Newell retired from Litton Industries, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed collecting sports cards and attending yard sales.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Mildred I. Schmohl; his son, Newell I. Thompson III of Williamsport; daughter, Cathy T. (Steven) Rush of Montoursville; and his sister, Patricia Miller of Loyalsock Township.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Alice Thompson.
The funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Robert J. Parish and Rev. A. Andrew Beare officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susquehanna Home Health and Hospice, care of Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
