Montoursville advanced to the Pennsylvania state tournament in Junior Baseball thanks to an 11-6 win over Shikellamy to win the Section 3 championship on Sunday. Devin?Singer went 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs while both?Curtis Miller and Nate?Krizan were 2 for 4.
Montoursville used an 8-run fifth inning to take the lead and distance itself from Shikellamy. Montoursville had 11 hits in the win.
Singer is 15 for 15 in his last 16 at bats with a walk and also made a diving catch to end the game on Sunday.
Montoursville plays the Section 4 champion on Wednesday.
Evan Nagy pitched a solid 4 1/3 innings for Loyalsock on?Sunday in the Section 3 tournament at Mahoney City, helping the 10-11-year-old all-stars defeat Berwick, 6-5.
Nagy and Aiden?Gair jump started Loyalsock's offense in the first inning with a pair of back-to-back home runs. Gair also hit a double in the win.
Loyalsock plays Cressona today, and needs a win to force an "if game."
West End lost in the 14-year-old Babe Ruth state tournament, 11-7, to Blue Valley. Evan Steele and Jake Glavin each had two hits for West?End in the loss while both?Brandon?Stokes and Alec Fantaske hit doubles.
West End out hit Blue Valley, 9-6. West End plays tonight against Mifflin?County.
