Frank L. Wheary, 75, of 11772 Route 44 Highway, Waterville, Pa., went to be with the Lord Monday evening, July 23, 2012, at the Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Unit.
Born March 29, 1937, in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Leonard Wheary and the former Marjorie Good.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, the former Norma C. Davis; they were united in marriage March 31, 1961, in the Jersey Mills Baptist Church.
Frank was a graduate of the Jersey Shore High School and the Western New England College. Earlier in his life, he was employed by Trimtex as a purchasing agent for 25 years. For 23 years, he and his wife were the owners of Whearys General Store in Waterville until they retired in 2001.
Frank honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.
Frank loved the outdoors, especially the Pine Creek Valley. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially bird hunting.
Frank is also survived by a son, F. Mark (Christine) Wheary of Lock Haven; one daughter, Cheryl A. (Don) Peters of Waterville; grandchildren, Brooke Wheary, Mitchell Wheary, Shelly (David) Morrone, Jaimie (Jason) Motter, Cali Peters and Sarah Peters; three sisters, Carole Asper of Haneyville, Ginny (Richard) Hills of Avis and Mary Ann (Gary) Day of Waterville. Also a special loyal friend, Gary Confer.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers, Kent and Keith Wheary.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 27, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home. Rev. Dean Olson will officiate. Burial will be in the Waterville Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Family suggests memorial contributions be made in his name to the Life Tree Church Missions Fund, 404 Wilson St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
