Cutters drop series opener

After watching the Williamsport Crosscutters take a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Lowell scored twice in the bottom of the inning and went on for a 3-1 win on Wednesday in the series opener at Lowell.

Aneury Tavarez gave the Spinners a one-run lead in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run double into right field.

The Crosscutters' only run came in the top of the inning when Logan Moore doubled into right to drive in Yan Olmo. Lowell's final run came in the seventh inning.

Williamsport had just six hits, including a pair of doubles from Cameron Perkins, who went 3 for 4.

Josh Warner pitched six innings for the Crosscutters, but took the loss and fell to 2-3.

The loss drops the Crosscutters to 12-25 on the year and puts them 10 1/2 games back in the Pinckney Division. Williamsport plays at Lowell again tonight at 7:05 p.m.
