Jeff Campbell and Megan Slankard return to Bullfrog Brewery

July 26, 2012
By ABBEY HALDEMAN - Sun-Gazette Correspondent , Williamsport Sun-Gazette

December 2010 was the last time Jeff Campbell and Megan Slankard performed in Williams-port. Since then, they have continued to keep their music alive in all areas of the world, both together and separately.

Even though they have become well-known across the map, the duo will return July 26 to the Bullfrog Brewery, 229 W. Fourth St., as part of a small east coast tour.

Since their last performance at the Bullfrog, Slankard and Campbell have been working hard at their art, becoming true musicians.

Jeff Campbell and Megan Slankard will return July 26 to the Bullfrog Brewery, 229 W. Fourth St., as part of a small East Coast tour.

Campbell has since been touring almost non-stop. He released a solo CD in January and an EP with his band, Pine and Battery, early in July.

Slankard also has picked up a musical project. She has worked with a songwriter coalition based in Reno, Nev., called The Novelist, through which she has recorded a CD.

She also has done several tours through the United States.

Slankard and Campbell had the opportunity to open for Train in San Francisco. Campbell also performed at Cafe Du Nord and Slankard at The Great American Music Hall before the start of the national tour.

"I sang a duet with Pat Monahan every night that week," Slankard said.

So, one may wonder what keeps bringing the both of them back to Williamsport?

Campbell has some roots in the Lycoming County area and he believes that without a doubt, it is his "thin slice of heaven."

Slankard said, "There is so much going on in big cities a lot of the time that it's nice to visit and perform in smaller communities. The energy is a lot different and people seem very focused and appreciative."

The two of them believe that the Bullfrog is such a great place for them to share their music. They feel the Williamsport area has a wonderful appreciation for music.

With regional and national tours passing through on their way to bigger cities, they believe that the bar is set high and they are honored to be continuously welcomed back.

Since both artists are toting recent releases from different projects, they will be sure to put on both excellent solo and duet performances. The all-ages, family event will be sure to keep the crowd involved, with requests being taken and sing-along songs being performed. The two haven't had much opportunity to perform together lately and are looking forward to this tour.
