Trout Run TPA officer elected to national post

Marie H. McGee, of Trout Run, recently was elected to the position of national president of the Travelers Protective Association during the 2012 TPA National Convention held in Branson, Mo.

McGee represented the Pennsyvania Division.

She has been a member of the association since 1993, when women were first allowed to join.

She has attended national conventions since 1985 and as a first-time delegate in 1993.

She has served as national director for two years, national community service chair for four years, national vice president and president of the past-president state presidents group for three years, and has been on the nominating committee for four years. She has been state president and state welfare chair, as well as post director, post president, post welfare chair and is now serving as Post W membership chair and alternate state director.

McGee has been recognized with awards from Gov. Tom Ridge for outstanding contributions and dedicated service to Lycoming County and the state, and has received awards from the Lycoming County Law Enforcement Association, two Spark Plug Awards from Post W and an achievement award for fundraising.

McGee and her husband, Gerald, were married in 1959. They have two sons and two daughters.
