Bank selects assistant

Woodlands Bank announces the promotion of David L. Fortin to assistant vice president.

Fortin began his banking career in 2000 as sales manager for PNC Bank and was hired by Woodlands in 2003 as branch manager of their Halls Station office. He is currently BSA, compliance, and security officer for the bank, as well as facilities manager for all six locations.

Fortin is a graduate of Lycoming College with a degree in business administration. He volunteers his time coaching AYSO Soccer and serves as a wrestling official for the PIAA. He resides in Montoursville with his wife, Michelle and their daughters, Liliana and Rowan.

Elder law attorneys Jeffrey A. Marshall, Dale Tice, Kevin Grebas and Brenda Colbert from the law firm of Marshall, Parker & Associates presented at the 15th annual Elder Law Institute at the Hershey Lodge in July.

Known as one of the premier elder law conferences in the country, a news release said, nearly 450 attorneys attended the two-day institute. Marshall kicked off the event by co-presenting the plenary session which is designed to provide an expert overview of the most important legislative, regulatory and case law changes impacting Pennsylvania seniors over the last year.

Tice, a certified mineral manager and a member of the firm's gas planning team, co-presented the session "Marcellus Confusion! Estate Planning for Owners of Oil and Gas Rights." The session focused on the advantages of using a family business entity such as a limited liability company or family limited partnership as an estate planning tool for natural gas landowners.

Long-term care planning for single or widowed clients at all stages was co-presented by Grebas and Colbert. It, the news release said, was designed to teach other attorneys how to devise a long-term care planning strategies for single or widowed clients.

The law firm of Marshall, Parker & Associates, according to the news release, is a nationally recognized leader in elder law and estate planning for seniors and Marcellus Shale landowners.

Katie is a lifelong resident of Lewisburg.

"Katie is the youngest of the licensees at Coldwell Banker but has been exposed to the business through her mother, Ann Hilliard, a Coldwell Banker veteran of 16 years; whom she will be working side by side with," said Martha Barrick, Broker and Principal owner.

Prior to joining Coldwell Banker Penn One Real Estate, Hilliard graduated from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.
