Greyhound events to be held in Aug.

Monica's Heart, a local retired racing greyhound adoption organization, will hold several adoption events in August:

Aug. 4 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tractor Supply Co., 1399 Columbia Blvd., Bloomsburg.

Aug. 4 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., PETCO, 80 Plaza Drive, Bloomsburg.

Aug. 11 - 11 a.m. to 2p.m., PETCO, 320 S. Lycoming Mall Road, Muncy.

Aug. 17, 18 - Friday, 2 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunbury River Festival. There are no dogs allowed in the park, but you can visit with the greyhounds under the canopy.

Aug. 25 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., PetSmart, 270 Marketplace Blvd., Selinsgrove.

Fire company to hold bingo

JERSEY SHORE - Independent Hose Co. No. 1, an all-volunteer fire company in Jersey Shore, will hold an "Ultimate Bingo" party on Saturday at the fire hall, 130 Pennsylvania Ave.

Doors will open at 10 a.m. and bingo starts at noon. There is a cost to play. Food will be available.

Meeting to be held at Legion

DALLAS, Pa. - The Wyoming Valley Civial War Roundtable will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m., Aug. 9 in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Memorial Hwy.

The Lindhill Institute will present the program, "An Interview with John Hay." Hay was Lincoln's personal secretary, who will be portrayed by Hugh Taylor. Present-day historian Fred Walters will interview him.

The program is open to the public, but there is a fee for non-members. For more information, call Pete at 639-1283.

Lions Club to sponsor car show

The Montoursville Lions Club will sponsor a "Fun in the Sun" car show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 at Indian Park, Montoursville.

The proceeds will go to the charities the Lions support such as Camp Victory, North Central Sight Services, Leader Dog and Beacon Lodge.

Proceeds also go projects in the community such as handicap ramps, helping flood victims, eyeglasses, hearing aids and more.

Artisans guild to meet Aug. 12

SUNBURY - The Susquehanna Valley Spinners and Weavers Guild will meet at 1:30 p.m., Aug. 12 at member Caroline Owens' farm, 2611 Post Road. The website for the farm is www.owensfarm.com.

Members are asked to bring a dish to share and a chair.

The guild also will celebrate Christmas in August by wrapping something from home to re-gift to another member.

Women's club to hold brunch

LEWISBURG - The Lewisburg Christian Women's Club will hold a brunch at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 14 at the Country Cupboard Restaurant.

The program will feature, "Summer Footwear with a Flair," by Michele Sears.

Musical selections will be presented by Rylly DePinto. The guest speaker for the morning will be Donna Merkiel from Stow, Ohio, presenting, "Lights, Camera, Action."

There will be a fee. Child care will be provided with reservations.
