Three locals face charges after allegedly taking items off the shelves of a local store and then fraudulently returning the same items.
Kim Ernest Hood, Jodi Lynn Englehart and Michael Wayne Moyer, all of 1640 Sherman St., face charges of theft by deception and retail theft after a loss prevention officer from Kmart apprehended the three allegedly attempting a return fraud. In addition, Moyer also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
On April 30, state police were called to the 1915 E. Third St. Kmart for an attempted retail theft. Police met with loss prevention officer Christy Newman, who said Englehart picked up several items from the store shelves, put them into a bag and left it at the service desk.
Newman then allegedly witnessed Hood pick the items up from the service desk and return them for a gift card. She added that Moyer was with the pair at the time of the incident.
All three waived their preliminary hearing. They will face a court arraignment on Aug. 20.
