The Hudson Valley Renegades used a 4-hit second inning to score five runs and put the Crosscutters down early en route to a 7-4 victory on Monday in Fishkill, NY. The loss ended a 1-5 road trip.
Joel Caminero started the rally for Hudson Valley with an RBI?single to left. Geoff Rowan then doubled, driving home two more runs.
The Crosscutters narrowed the gap to 5-3 in the second inning Gustavo Gonzalez tripled and scored on a groundout.
Hudson Valley tacked on another run in the bottom of the second inning after Luke Maile hit a single into left field and yet another in the third to put the Crosscutters behind by four runs. Williamsport scored just one more run the rest of the game in the eighth inning after Mitch Walding scored on a groundout. Walding reached thanks to a triple into center.
Roman Quinn's 2-for-4 night led the Cutter bats. Pitcher Josh Warner (2-4) gave up seven runs off eight hits through four innings.
The Crosscutters are off today before returning home for six straight games, starting Wednesday against Aberdeen. They then start a 3-game series against Connecticut on Sunday.
The Cutters are now a season-worst 16 games under .500 and sit 12-1/2 games out of first place. They also have the worst record in the New York-Penn League, 2 1/2 games worse than the Staten Island Yankees.
