Carolyn T. Bastian

Carolyn Trese (Schell) Bastian, 82, of Wilmington, Del., passed away suddenly on July 26, 2012, at Christiana Hospital.

Carolyn was born on Jan. 25, 1930, in Turbotville, Pa., to the late Wilbur Stanley Schell (1900-1985) and Margaret Rishel Schell (1906-1938). She was a 1947 graduate of Turbotville High School and attended Zion Lutheran Church. Until 1961, Carolyn was employed as an Executive Secretary at Sylvania in Montoursville, Pa. After raising her children in Williamsport, Pa., Carolyn's warm voice and personality graced the phones and box office at Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre in Delaware.

Carolyn is deeply missed by her loving and beloved family and friends: her daughters, Lynn Haddad (William) of Wendell, N.C., Jenny Bastian (Victor Koons) of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Julie Bastian of Wilmington, Del.; granddaughter, Isabella Carolyn Haddad (age 2, the light of her Grammies's life); her sister, Marian Bieber (William) of Landenberg, Pa.; her brother, William Schell (Janet) of Voorhees, N.J.; and her half-sister, Glenda Berube (Michael) of Berwick, Pa.; nieces, Carole and Robin Bieber; nephews, Sandy and Anthony Schell and Drew Berube; great-nieces, Lily Bieber-Ham and Emily Sanchez; and great-nephews, Mason Bieber-Ham and Soren Schneider. Carolyn is also survived by her cherished childhood friends, Barbara Williamson King of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Barbara Flower Hartline of Dewart, Pa. Carolyn's sweetness, her kind and beautiful smile, and unwavering faith in human goodness will never be forgotten.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Aug. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, followed immediately by a brief memorial service.
