Announcement has been made of the engagement of Jacqueline Ann Szymanski and Ian Shadrach Shepherd, both of Boston, Mass.
An Oct. 13 wedding at Tuck'd Inn Farm, Cooksburg, is being planned.
Szymanski is the daughter of Julie and Joseph J. Szymanski III, Kane. She received a bachelor's degree in English literature from Lycoming College in 2009 and a master's degree in writing and publishing from Emerson College, Boston. She is employed as a freelance graphic designer and proofreader.

Shepherd is the son of Michele and E. Leon Shepherd, Crawfordsville, Ind. He received bachelor's degrees in religion and Ancient Near Eastern studies from Lycoming College in 2010 and is pursuing a doctorate in archaeology at Boston University. He is employed by John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, Boston, as event staff and by CVS as a pharmacy technician.
