Charles A. Frey, 84, of 1101 Chestnut St., Montoursville, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at his residence. He was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Ralston, a son of Russell C. and Harriet Route Frey.
He retired from Textron where he worked as a machinist, and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a Lifetime member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104 in Montoursville; was past President of the Lycoming Co. Bowling Association and was enshrined in the Lycoming Co. Bowling Hall of Fame. He enjoyed woodcrafting and watching sports on TV.
Surviving is his wife, the former Doris Jean Horn, with whom he would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on September 1. He is also survived by his son, Larry D. (Elizabeth) of Montoursville; daughter, Linda J. Hawkins of Woolrich; his adopted sister, Marie Fields of Brodosi, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Lance (Kim) Hawkins, Meredith (B.J.) Batterson, Ashley L. Hawkins, Dustin S. Hawkins, Kimberly (Dave) Rakestraw, Kara (Jase) Wolfe, Kyle (Brittany) Frey, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Teresa, and by a brother, Russell Jr.
The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Michael S. Swimley and Rev. Richard M. Barner officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. Friends will be received on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
