Save 1 Soul Festival

Save One Soul Festival will be held from noon-5 p.m. at the Brandon Park band shell featuring numerous ministry groups and giveaways. Rain date is Aug. 11.

TUESDAY

1st Tuesday fellowship

Farragut Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Route 864 near the intersection with Route 87, will hold its first Tuesday fellowship dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. Free-will donations are accepted.

Workshop on response to disasters in area

The Long Term Disaster Recovery Committee of the United Churches of Lycoming County will hold a workshop titled "Floods, Disasters and Mission: How Can Your Church Community Respond?" at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St.

Its goal is to develop and coordinate a continuing Christian response to the continuing unmet needs of the September flooding from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, including future work-day events and to provide information, strategies and resources for your church's response to disaster events.

All area congregations are encouraged to send at least one representative.

WEDNESDAY

Catholic women's retreat planned

All Catholic women are invited to attend the annual Scranton Diocesan Council of Catholic Women's Day of Reflection, which will be conducted in the Villa of Our Lady Retreat House, 245 Meadowside Road, Mount Pocono. Msgr. Constantine Siconolfi, former pastor of Holy Family Church in Scranton and executive director of St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen in Scranton, will be the retreat master for the day. A fee will be charged.

Puppet ministry

Kidz 4 Education, a division of Kingdom Kidz Inc., will present a program at 11 a.m. at the Lycoming Mall. The presentation, "Safety Rock," incorporates many safety issues for children using skits and songs. Spot, the fire safety dog, will involve the children in learning how to stop, drop and roll, as well as, crawling low in a smoke-filled room.

Chicken barbecue set

UNITYVILLE - St. John's Lutheran Church (Gordner's Church) will hold a chicken barbecue at 2 p.m. Aug. 11.

Meals include a half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, corn on the cob and dessert. Entertainment will be by the Greenwood Valley Boys bluegrass band.

Tickets are $9 for adults; $4 for children 6-12; and free for children age 5 and younger.

Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling Robert Gordner at 458-5237, Bud Jordan at 482-2516, Keith Gordner at 458-6359 or a member of the congregation.

The church is three miles west of Unityville at the intersection of Moreland Baptist Road and Gordner Church Road.

JERSEY SHORE - Singer/songwriter and ventriloquist Brent Vernon will perform at Mountain View CMA Church, 1515 Cemetery St., at 10 a.m.and 11 a.m.

AUG. 13

Summer trip planned

CANTON - The Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) in Canton announces plans for a Reptiland summer trip. Cost is $17.50 for children (age 3-11) and $20 for youth and adults and includes school bus transportation with stops in Troy, Alba, Canton, Grover, Newelltown, Roaring Branch and Ralston beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Troy.
