JERSEY SHORE - A Railroad Street woman faces charges for allegedly calling in a fictitious report of a suicidal woman hiding in the woods near the Rail-to-Trails on the afternoon of July 13, according to the Tiadaghton Valley Regional police.
Several police departments were used and a street was closed for at least two hours as officers looked for the distraught woman that never existed, police said.
The emergency was prompted, police said, by a call made by Heidi Ann White, 44, of 697 Railroad St., about 3:30 p.m. She claimed to be on the telephone with a woman who was armed with a handgun and hiding in the woods, reportedly threatening to harm herself, police said.
"This was later found to be all false," an officer wrote in an affidavit.
Charged with false reports to law enforcement and disorderly conduct, White has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley.
