City man arrested in disturbance involving a handgun

Williamsport Sun-Gazette

A Wildwood Boulevard man was arrested and jailed following a domestic disturbance with his wife that involved a loaded handgun, city police said.

Perry Hart, 26, of 672 Wildwood Blvd., has been charged with recklessly endangering, simple assault and harassment for allegedly pushing his wife onto a bed, pulling her hair and then retrieving a loaded handgun from a closet about 12:20 a.m. Sunday, police said.

"He handled the gun in a highly intoxicated state, placing both parties at risk of serious harm," police said in an affidavit, referring to Hart. His wife, Nicole, was not injured.

When officers arrived, Hart was "passed out on a living room couch," police said. He was taken before District Judge James Carn, who automatically committed him to the Lycoming County Prison after ruling that Hart was unfit for arraignment.

Hart was arraigned 10 hours later and returned to the prison, but he since has been released on $10,000 bail.
