The world's largest touring grill will participate in the Little League World Series Grand Slam Parade for the first time and then will feed people in Montoursville the following day -- in large quantities.
The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill can hold up to 10 grillers, preparing 750 bratwursts at a time or 2,500 of them in an hour, said Christie Moore, communications and public relations specialist for Johnsonville Sausage.
The semi-truck-sized grill will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 16 in the Weis parking lot, 801 Loyalsock Ave., Montoursville.
"This is our first time in the Grand Slam parade," Moore said. "We're really excited about that. While we're out in the area, we're going to help Weis celebrate their 100th anniversary."
The grill weighs 53,000 pounds and measures 65 feet long, 20 feet high and 6 feet in diameter.
Sales from the day will support Little League, Moore said.
"We're ready for crowds," she said. "No matter how many."
Since it was first introduced in 1995 as part of Johnsonville Sausage's 50th anniversary celebration, the grill has helped raise more than $3 million for charitable groups and organizations throughout North America.
Other events the grill has attended are local events like state fairs and community festivals, as well as several Super Bowls, the Daytona 500, the Kentucky Derby and the Pentagon.
