LOCK HAVEN - In other business at its meeting Monday night, City Council:

Approved an annual request from the Lock Haven Area Jaycees to close Water Street from Jay to Washington Street for the 42nd annual Lock Haven Area Jaycees Labor Day Regatta Sept. 1 to 3. The request also includes the closure of City Beach during the boat races during the weekend, and the closure of the dike-levee walkway at both ends of the amphitheatre and the bottom two rows of steps on the amphitheatre to comply with the boat racers' insurance company.

Approved an annual request from the Flemington High Neighbor Committee to close a part of Frederick Street for a parade on Sept. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Received $12,235 from the Clinton County Housing Authority in lieu of taxes. City Manager Rich Marcinkevage said the city budgeted $12,500 for the year.

Received a $3,800 refund from Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania under the Medical Loss Ratio Provision of the Affordable Health Care Act. That money will go toward next year's premiums.

Heard the city has advertised in several media outlets for an entry-level position police officer, with a deadline of Aug. 17 to apply. Civil Service testing for the position will be held on Aug. 22, with oral testing the end of August and possibly the beginning of September. The hire will replace Dave Shultz, who retired on June 19. Another officer is set to retire in October.

Approved, on first reading, an ordinance amending the airport project fund budget to include the runway rehabilitation project. The project will be paid for through 95 percent in state and federal funding and 5 percent in local funding.

Mayor Rick Vilello noted the airport has been undergoing numerous improvements since he has been mayor, including fencing, lighting, a grass air strip, a revamped lobby and two new fuel trucks.

Agreed to advertise the sale of surplus pickup trucks and vans. Council also gave its OK to purchase a 2004 and a 2005 pickup truck for around $13,000 each. Marcinkevage said the trucks will replace two trucks from 1986.

Accepted the resignation of Craig Simcox from the relief driver position for Hope Hose due to a change in employment.

Heard from Marcinkevage the city received $1,006 during last month's annual bike auction, where 60 bikes and various electronic equipment were auctioned.

Heard the outdoor movie that was postponed last month will play in Triangle Park this Saturday night. In addition, council heard there will be a car show during this Friday's Triangle Park summer concert.
