Jean Louise Whipple, 86, formerly of South Williamsport, Pa., died on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at the Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport.
Jean was born on Dec. 8, 1925, at Williamsport. She was the daughter of the late Jason S. and Evelyn (Hyman) Cranmer.
Jean was a member of and attended Messiah Lutheran Church in South Williamsport, Pa. Jean was also the owner of and clerk at the former Whipple's Bakery in Newberry. Jean enjoyed square dancing, animals, and baking and cooking. She was also was a former member of the Bald Eagle Kennel Club.

Surviving are her son, Clifford "Chip" Leroy Whipple Jr., of South Williamsport; a daughter, Susanne Whipple, of Williamsport; a granddaughter, Carol Staib, of Williamsport; a grandson, Matthew Whipple, of South Williamsport; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley Staib, Carolyn Whipple, Hannah Whipple, Kyle Whipple, all of South Williamsport. Also surviving are her close friends, Stephanie Morris and Judy Trautner, and many other close friends and relatives.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and her late husband Clifford Leroy Whipple Sr., and her half sister JoAnne.
Funeral services for Jean L. Whipple will be held on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, South Williamsport, Pa. The Reverend Roy D. Meyers will officiate. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Interment will immediately follow the service at the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, Pa.
