Horace D. Moore

Horace D. Moore, Sgt. 1st Class Retired, 72, of 295 Harris Lane, Montoursville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 25, 1939, in Pickens, S.C., a son of Bluford and Shirley Murray Moore.

Horace was a Vietnam War Veteran having served four years in the Navy and 16 years in the Army. He retired from the United States Army and the Montoursville School District. Horace was a member of the First Christian Church of Montoursville and the Montoursville Lions Club. He worked on Little League Baseball Fields and loved to fish.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Kaehler.

Horace is survived by his wife, the former Connie L. Harris, with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage with on June 12; a son, Master Sgt. James D. (Michelle) of LaGrange, North Carolina; two daughters, Melissa M. (Peter) Berg of Little Falls, Minn. and Cheryl L. Moore of Montoursville; two brothers, Garland (Linda) Moore and Daniel (Regina) Moore both of Norris, S.C.; three sisters, Rachel (Shuratte) Harris of Six Mile, S.C., Jeanette Stephens of Central, S.C. and Sandra (Charles) Stancil of Six Mile, S.C. and five grandchildren, Josh, Kourtney, Jordan, Martha and Katrina.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at First Christian Church of Montoursville, 5329 Lycoming Mall Drive, Montoursville, with Dan Nichols, Preacher. Interment will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, with Military Honors Accorded by the Lycoming County Korean War Veterans. Friends may call Monday morning at the church from 10 to 1 a.m.

Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
