Finally the Penn State trustees may be doing their job. The appeal of the NCAA sanctions on the basis of improper procedures is exactly what needs to be done. All this is scary that the major decisions are made on the basis of limited information and lack of due process. The media is equally at fault in taking the superficial approach to a very serious issue. All of us regret beyond words the travesty that occurred, but simply punishing without understanding the full set of issues is also wrong. And scary that we might accept such judgements without full facts and information not just for this issue but as a general rule. What in the world are we doing if that is how we approach these types of issues, superficially and without full investigation and application of targeted and directed punishment. That is quite scary.
