Typical thinking

August 12, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

To throw my two cents into the pot on today's letter about the city needing a real bookstore and the woman who said you can buy a cup of coffee somewhere and browse at a store downtown, which would take all of five minutes: Typical Williamsport thinking.

I guess she never was to the Barnes and Noble in Lewisburg. The store is giant and utterly an asset to Lewisburg.

On the fact that the city's colleges are too far from downtown, the B&N in Lewisburg is located several blocks away from Bucknell, which would make Lycoming College closer to the downtown than Bucknell is to Lewisburg.

More businesses is a plus not a negative to the people of the city. If we only allowed one type store to sell goods, we all would be shopping at a general store like they had 150 years ago.
