Thirteen students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Natural Resources Management will receive financial assistance from the Caterpillar Foundation for the 2012-13 academic year.
"The impact of Caterpillar Inc. on our students is far-reaching," said Mary A. Sullivan, dean of natural resources management. "It's not just the students who are planning to be Caterpillar equipment technicians. CAT awarded scholarships to diesel, on-site power generation and heavy equipment operators and technicians, as well."
The recipients, their majors and hometowns are:
Diesel technology - Brandon T. Langdon, Manorsville, N.Y.; Steven M. Seguine, Clinton, N.J.; and Colby L. Shollenberger, Hamburg.
Heavy construction equipment technology: Caterpillar equipment emphasis - Jarrett L. Faust, Hamburg; Christopher K. Leonard, Frenchville; Matthew Testagrose, Shoreham, N.Y.; and Rebecca C. Zeigler, Sligo.
Heavy construction equipment technology: operator emphasis - Paul R. Brenneman, Huntingdon; Joseph W. Musher, Zelienople, and Adam M. Schaeffer, Blairsville.
Heavy construction equipment technology: technician emphasis - Brent A. Godissart, Morrisdale; Daniel J. Hickel, Auburn, N.Y.; and Nathan W. Jeffries, Galeton.
The scholarships were decided on the basis of academic performance, community service and extracurricular activities, financial need, and an essay explaining why they chose a diesel-related field and how the funds would assist them in accomplishing their career goals. Over the past 18 years, Caterpillar and its participating dealers have provided Penn College with more than $1.8 million in equipment contributions and scholarship assistance to students.
