MIDDLEBURY CENTER - Dale Swan Jr., 17, of Middlebury Center, was killed in a two-car crash Thursday afternoon on Route 249 in Middlebury Township that also severely injured his 14-year old brother, who was a front-seat passenger in the car, according to Tioga County coroner Dr. James Wilson.

State police are investigating the crash, which also injured the driver of a 1998 Ford F-150 pick-up truck, Patricia Chambers, 54, of Middlebury Center.

According to police, Swan, who was not identified in the police release, lost control of his 1989 Buick Century on a right corner as he was traveling westbound, and the car went into a spin into the path of the truck.

All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts, police said.

Wilson said Chambers was treated for minor injuries, but it is unknown where the younger Swan was transported or what his condition is. His name also was not released by police.

Wilson pronounced Swan dead of multiple blunt force trauma.

The brothers, both 4-H Club members, were participating in the Tioga County Fair.
