Nathan E. Eckley, 73, of 135 Kunes St., Blanchard, an awesome big brother and unique father, died Aug. 10, 2012, in the emergency room of Jersey Shore Hospital.
Born Oct. 26, 1938, in Huntingdon, Pa., he was a son of the late Eugene L. and Betty J. Garis Eckley. On June 21, 1961, in Mill Hall, he married the former Dorothy L. Klobe, who died Nov. 5, 2009.
Nate served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1985 from the former Hammermill Paper Co. Nate had also worked for Clasters and had been a manager at the Uni-Mart in Blanchard. He was a 1957 graduate of the Bald Eagle Nittany High School.

Surviving are two sons, Eugene L. Eckley, of Lamar, and Glenn P. (Peg) Eckley, of McElhatten; one daughter, Georgia L. Eckley (Tom McNutt, Jr.), of Williamsport; two brothers, Larry (Claire) Eckley, of Beech Creek, and John Eckley, of Lucinda; one sister, Patricia (Gary) Robinson, Mill Hall; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, in the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
