Williamsport Area School District parents, the school board wants to increase the athletic fees from a one time yearly fee of $40, to $50 for the first sport and $20 for each sport after that each year.
If you have multiple children playing several sports this will become expensive very fast. I have two children that play sports.
They were planning on playing tennis and cross country in the fall, swim team in the winter and track during the spring. This will cost me $180 for the year, that does not include equipment, fund raisers or food for away meets.
I understand the fee being raised to $50, it is the additional $20 per sport that is excessive. This will negatively affect the students and the sports teams.
This fee increase is for both middle school and high school. Please email the board members or go to the next school board meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m.
