MANSFIELD - Area singers are invited to join the Mansfield University of Pennsylvania Festival Chorus for the 2012-13 season. The chorus, directed by Peggy Dettwiler, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings in Steadman Theatre beginning Aug. 28.

The Festival Chorus will perform in the annual Choral Collage Oct. 28, along with the women's chorus, men's chorus, and

the Concert Choir. The program will present a variety of musical styles, including gospel and spiritual arrangements from

the United States. The Festival Chorus will perform in the MU holiday choral concert Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and 2.

"Holiday Music Down Through The Ages" will be the theme of this year's concert. Music for men's, women's and mixed choirs that was composed from the sixth century through 2011 will resound from Steadman Theatre.

The finale, "Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas," sung by the combined choirs, incorporates familiar musical styles throughout music history and includes a surprise ending.

These rehearsals are held at 7 p.m. Thursdays for women and 8 p.m. for men.

Participants will need to buy some of the music at the MU Campus Bookstore before the first rehearsal.

Call 662-4721 or email pdettwil@mansfield.edu for more information.
