Charles B. Brass

Charles B. Brass, 81, a resident of Williamsport, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Born in Montoursville on Sept. 26, 1930, he was the son of the late George and Lillian Brass.

Charles attended Montoursville High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1951 on the U.S.S Worcester CL 144. He was released with an honorable discharge, receiving a Navy Occupation Medal, and China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and a ribbon Bar for Korea Service Medal.

Charles worked for Bethlehem Steel, George Roller and retired from Textron in 1993 after 41 years of service.

He and his late wife Louise shared more than 57 years of marriage before she passed away in 2008. He enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. After his retirement, he enjoyed his time painting. He painted more than 100 pictures and gave them away to family and friends.

He is survived by two sisters, Margaret Wood of Missouri, Mary Ellen Dincher, and one brother, Frederick Brass, both of Montoursville. They were the parents of four children, Gerald (Karin), Margaret Baier (George), both of Bastress, Charles Jr. (Callie) and Norbert, both of Williamsport. There are six grandchildren, George and Sarah Baier, Christopher Brass, Lisa Rank, Sabrina Bustin and Karina Brass, all of Williamsport; six great-grandchildren, Hannah and Dylan Baier, Easton Laubscher, Abigial and Megan Brass and Landon Bustin, all of Williamsport.

Funeral services will be held at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., on Wednesday morning at noon. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and memorial contributions may be made to the Lycoming County S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701 or to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
