A police checkpoint in Muncy on Friday night resulted in 228 motorists stopped, nine given sobriety tests and four of them arrested on charges of driving while under the influence of intoxicants, authorities said.
"We've kicked off the national campaign called 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,' " said Old Lycoming Township Police Chief William Solomon, head of the DUI Enforcement Team.
Two of the drivers who were arrested were under the influence of drugs, according to Solomon. Several traffic citations and warnings were issued.
Checkpoints and roving patrols will continue through the Labor Day holiday weekend.
