Hayden Jeter Dorsett of North Arlington, N.J., died peacefully in his parents' arms Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012.
He was born in Philadelphia on March 12, 2012, with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
Hayden blessed our lives for five fulfilling months. In those short months, Hayden captured the hearts of thousands with his infectious smiles and incredible strength. A hero and warrior, he endured three open heart surgeries, amongst many other medical challenges that kept him hospitalized for almost half of his life. Hayden will be remembered for his intense love for life and his will to fight through any challenge. His contagious smile immediately made everyone melt. His laugh was soft but distinct. He loved to snuggle on the couch. He loved his soft swaddles and loveys. He loved to play with colorful toys he could easily grasp- and more recently put in his mouth. He got his first tooth four days before he went to heaven. He loved walks in the open air. He loved kisses, being held, massages and his family. Nothing made him happier than his mother's face and voice.
He is welcomed into heaven by his great-grandparents, and heart angel cousin, Sara.
Anxiously awaiting our reunion are loving parents, Ady and Rob, and big brother, Jackson, all of North Arlington; grandparents, Bob and Pam Smith of Williamsport, Pa., Bob and Donna Dorsett of Ridgefield, N.J.; great-grandmother, Jean DeNicola; aunts, Tatum, Kristyn and Katie; uncles, Craig, Ryan and Andy; and cousins, Alex, Gabe, Preston and Kathrine. Until we meet again, sweet baby.
Services will take place Friday, Aug. 24, at Parow Funeral Home, 185 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ 07031. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon with services immediately following. The family will have a private burial.
In lieu of flowers, the funeral home will be accepting monetary donations. The family intends to support several heart foundations and organizations that have supported the Dorsett family throughout this journey.
