Marie E. Allen, 83, of Picture Rocks, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.
Born Nov. 26, 1928, in Nordmont, Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late LeRoy and Annie Strausser Edkin. Her husband of 38 years, Stanley W. Allen, preceded her in death on March 13, 1986.
Marie loved spending time in the outdoors; gardening, picking blueberries and walking. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidering and caring for individuals as a live-in housekeeper.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara A. Summers of Picture Rocks; a sister, Bessie Little of Eagles Mere; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronald Summers and two brothers, David and Ralph Edkin.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Max L. Walters Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lungerville Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
