Missing pieces

August 24, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

In the letter "Champions of the 1%," the writer quotes from the non-partisan Tax Policy Center that Romney's tax plan would "provide large tax cuts to high-income households, and increase the tax burdens on middle- and/or lower-income taxpayers." He is correct in that the Tax Policy Center paper he cited did state this.

What the author of the letter fails to note is that this same non-partisan center states that Gov. Romney has not submitted a fully specified tax plan, Romney has never stated that he would raise taxes on the middle and lower classes nor do they think it is his intent, and that the paper was just an example of how hard it would be for Romney to keep his promise of keeping deep tax cuts deficit neutral.

Sometimes it's better to actually read the sources cited rather than to blindly drink the kool-aid.
