H. Joan Loughry, 79, of 1209 Cedar St., Montoursville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Valley View Nursing Center.
She was born May 11, 1933, in Williamsport, a daughter of Louis and Margaret Hess Pfirman.
Joan graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1951 and attended Jefferson University. She retired from AT&T, where she was an operator. Joan was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, shopping and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, G. Carlton "Carl", who passed away in 2010; a son, David; and a brother, Carl L. "Puff" Pfirman.
Joan is survived by her children, Melvin (Lisa) Johnson, of Cascade, and Cindy (Rick) Welshans, of Montoursville; five grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jeremy Welshans and Erica (Kyle) Wingo; and a great-grandson, Aiden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St., with Rev. John K. Manno as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John Lutheran "Brick Church" Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 800 Mulberry St., Montoursville, PA 17754.
