Dorothy Theresa Wood, 87, of Roseville, Pa., died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Blossburg, Pa., a daughter of Thomas and Anna (Pointek) Walkowiak. Raised in Morris Run, Pa., Dorothy was a wonderful mother, homemaker, farm wife and friend. She was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church, Mansfield, Pa.
Dorothy is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Deb Wood of Mansfield, Pa., Ron Wood of Roseville, Pa., Tim and Terri Wood of Tioga, Pa., and Ted and Lisa Wood of Mansfield, Pa.; a brother, Anthony Walkowiak of McElhatten, Pa.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Sherrill of Aurora, Ill., Margaret and Val Goreczny of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Nicholas Derkach of Rochester, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Wood Hammond, Mary Wood and Anita Wood, all of Mansfield, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Heather (Dan) Ream, Chris (Amy) Wood, Tyler (Sandy) Wood, Ryan (Casey) Wood, Laura (Gary) Ball, Molly Wood and Brady Wood; eight stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her former husband and father of her children, Gordon Wood of Tioga, Pa.; caretakers, Rhonda Wood Nagy and Alberta Mayes. She was predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law, Veronica "Jen" and John Manikowski, Sof and John Brogan, Josephine Derkach, Catherine and Frank Tokarz, Victoria Walkowiak; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Lucy Walkowiak, Frank and Helen Walkowiak; former brothers-in-law, Charles, Wilbur, Dick and DeLos.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Holy Child Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jacek J. Bialkowski as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery, Blossburg, Pa. Memorial donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to Holy Child Catholic Church, 245 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA 16933.
