A convicted sex offender has been arrested yet again, this time for allegedly molesting two minors whose parents used the man as a babysitter, city police said.
The parents were unaware that Samuel Allen McHenry, 30, of 648 Route 15, South Williamsport, was convicted six years ago of statutory sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor, police said.
The couple, who live in the city, recently became friends with McHenry and allowed him to stay with the children, both under the age of 10, for three hours on the night of June 15 while they went to see a movie, police said.
The parents became suspicious that something was wrong when the sleeping habits of one of the children drastically change after McHenry watched the siblings, police said.
McHenry was taken into custody Monday by Agent Kevin Stiles hours after the investigator filed a warrant for his arrest, thereby entering his name into the National Crime Information Center.
Ironically, McHenry was arrested at the state police barracks in Montoursville while registering his status as a sex offender as he is periodically required to do under state law, Stiles said.
State troopers entered his name into the information center and learned that there was a warrant for his arrest.
Following his arraignment before District Judge James Carn on two counts each of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and corrupting the morals of a minor, McHenry was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
