Unfair

September 4, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

We have people in this country, mostly those who favor conservative ideology, who say that imposing a higher rate of taxation on the upper income brackets is mean, damaging, and spiteful to those who are very successful. That the people who favor doing this are nothing but petty, jealous and envious of their success and wealth. They go further by saying that we are attacking the very people who create jobs in this country. The same people who favor keeping the tax rate for the upper income brackets low or even lower will argue that the problem lies not in raising the tax but to cut the wages, benefits, pension of public worker and they will chose teachers as the prime target. They will argue that they themselves have stagnant wages and less benefits and no pension plan why should a teacher have what they do not have.

Teachers have and do nurture, counsel, educate, explore, inspire, open doors and pathways, demonstrate techniques, introduce you to creative elements and tools, and aid in finding your potential. Teachers get children to think, create, invent, lead.

They do it for every child who walks into their classroom including those who inhabit the upper brackets of income.

The difference teachers mostly do this through the public sector of our country and with low funds. People have become so repulsed by the public sector that they do so without thinking, without reason, without gratitude. People are measuring success by how much wealth you have accumulated not by what you have accomplished. Wealth is not success it is compensation.
