Parkhurst Memorial Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Main St., Elkland, now officially is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The groundwork to achieve the status began in 2008, when Elder Louise Hall requested permission from the Session to begin the process. With assistance from members of the Parkhurst Session, and in particular photographer Debra Morgan - who prepared numerous required photographs - the survey form was submitted. After several years of reviews, futher research, documentation and revisions, approval was given. Official notification came April 16 and the church membership recently received the official documentation certificate.
