Ronald S. Harris, 65, of 338 Pine St., Jersey Shore, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Ron was born Jan. 29, 1947, in Jersey Shore, the son of Roscoe Harris and the former Anna Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Diantha E. Hazel; they were united in marriage Aug. 21, 1970, in Williamsport.
Ron was a 1965 graduate of the Jersey Shore High School and was a member and former Fire Chief of the Citizens Fire Co. in Jersey Shore. Earlier in his life he was the manager of the Weis Market in Jersey Shore and later retired as the district manager of Turkey Hill Markets. He enjoyed music and playing drums.
Also surviving is a son, Christopher J. (Jodi) Harris of Lancaster, Ohio; a daughter, Melissa D. Harris of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Emily C. Harris, Allison M. Harris and Micai J.B. Harris; one brother, Chester Harris of Jersey Shore; four sisters, Mary Hendricks of Jersey Shore, Helen (Robert) Brown of Williamsport, Elizabeth (Tom) Marshall of New Cumberland and Nancy (David) Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Rev. David W. McCoy will officiate. There will be a time of food and fellowship at the Mountain View Church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance following the service.
