Hammock protects car seats from dirty dogs

Kurgo Wander Hammock

More and more people include the family dog in almost everything they do, and canines spend plenty of time in the car. Sometimes, dogs take vehicle rides fine, while others roam a bit - which is very unsafe for everyone - and others get sick.

Dog owners need a product that has a variety of features, such as a barrier to keep the animal safely in the back of the vehicle, a cover to protect against loose hair, mud and accidents, and a product that works with multiple types of vehicles.

Kurgo Wander Hammock

All of these features can be found in the Kurgo Wander Hammock.

The piece attaches to the headrest on your seats and acts as a barrier, blocking the space between the front seats. It also wraps in a U-shape to the back seats to create a hammock so the dog doesn't fall all over or onto the floor when the driver stops or turns corners.

I liked it because it helped keep the hair and dirt off my seats.

Although the hammock doesn't stop hair from flying off the body of my husky mix, it does prevent the hair from burying itself into the seat.

My favorite part is that it all folds up into a convenient carrying case complete with pockets and a water bottle for your dog.

It easily can be used on an outing, giving your dog a comfortable mat to lay on in the grass. I would be careful, however, when putting it back into the car, in case there is dirt on the hammock.

Its features, according to Kurgo, include:

Six attachment points to keep the hammock in place;

It can be used as a hammock to keep the dog from falling to the floor, or as a seat cover;

It is waterproof, washable, stain resistant and available in khaki or black;

Velcro-closure openings allow you to still use seatbelts and child car seats;

It includes a water bottle and carrying case;

It measures 55 inches wide by 56 inches long.

The hammock fits most standard vehicles, but be sure to double check.

Retailing for $60, it may be bought online at www.kurgostore.com or at local pet stores.
